Coffee Collages
Here in Brunswick, as in many parts of the world, coffee is the drink of choice from kitchen tables to cafes to the drive- thru. Over a cup of coffee promises are made, strangers meet, friends talk, memories shared, decisions made, business deals clinched. …….all over a cup of coffee. The tradition is never more alive than it is today. This body of work honors that cup of coffee in an untraditional way. The painting medium is coffee in various strengths. Collage materials include every day items such as cardboard, used coffee filters, newspaper, sheet music as well as vintage ephemera from local antique shops. Some of the text is lyrics from songs written about the beverage.
